XciteRC Tech advisor remote-controlled aircrafts

A model aircraft is a scaled-down or miniaturized aircraft which is operated for enjoyment or free time. It is either the miniature of an original from passenger transportation aeronautics or a model for mere purpose in its form only appearing in model flight. Model aircrafts are being constructed and operated as a Hobby for the purpose of model flight and are in use at national and international competitions as a form of sport. As far as it is a remote-controlled model it is normally operated within sight of its pilot.

RC flight models are available as kits or in diverse subcategories as “almost ready to fly” (ARTF) or “ready to fly” (RTF). They are often developed and constructed from model makers themselves. Model aircrafts are available in sizes starting from a few centimeters up to wingspans of several meters. The range of currently obtainable drives involves rubber motors, electric drive, piston engines and turbines.

Historically model flight is older than manned aeronautics and the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale FAI considers it an own sector of aeronautics.
