XciteRC Tech advisor ship modelmaking, boats, speedboats

Model shipbuilding has a long history in modelmaking. Clay models approximately 4000 years old were brought to daylight as archaeological finds and even in the grave of infamous Tutanchamun floatable ship models were found. Several years have elapsed until nowadays’ familiar remote-controlled RC boats and the modern boats don’t have much more in common with the ancient ones than the basic idea. Pretty interesting is that Nikola Tesla presented a wireless-controlled ship model at the world exhibition 1898 in New York and took out a patent for it.

Nowadays in RC boat sector it is differentiated mainly between the so-called Scale models which are recreated correspond to the original down to the last detail and true to scale and the functional boats or speedboats where no specific original serves as a prototype.

Like other RC model types RC boats are driven by Nitro engines and electric motors. Because of environmental regulations and noise requirements the waters on which model boats with Nitro engines are allowed to swim unfortunately become increasingly rare. It is also recommendable to make sure you are allowed to operate a model boat in the favored waters before actual usage, regardless of its motorization. Especially bathing lakes should be avoided during the bathing seasons for a model boat can cause serious injury.
